A social hour with the faculty follows the meeting and it will be held at 10:45 a.m. in the DCC Banquet Hall. This is an excellent time for parents to meet the professors from each department in a friendly atmosphere on cam pus. After a morning of meetings, parents have the opportunity to enjoy a picnic lunch at the DCC before heading to Earnest W. Spangler Dr. Bottoms consults his Psyche in order to welcome parents during last year's Parent Weekend. Stadium to cheer for the Bulldogs. Coffee will be served during regis tration on Saturday in the concourse of the LYCC An Evening of Jazz by Andy White staff writer This Parent Weekend, the smooth sounds of j-Street will echo through the Dover The atre. Listeners with a taste for hot jazz should not miss this promising band. Students may remember j-Street from their performance on campus last February. Since then, good things have been happening with the group who have only been together for two years. Their Shelby debut was in August when they opened for nationally known jazz vocal ist, Marie Howell. That appearance led to opening slots for Najee, Sade, and Digable Planets earlier-this month. GWU alumnus Llare Scott leads the band on keyboards. Bassist Harold Brown, sax man Clyde Cumberland and drummer Ben Brown complete the group. Often compared to Kenny G and David Sandbom, j-Street's own brand of contempo rary jazz is catching the ear of some very important people. "(The band) is very excited about aU the positive things that are happening," said Scott who invites everyone to "an exciting evening of music." See j-Street on Saturday at 8 p.m. in the Dover Theatre. f Parent Weekend Schedule | Saturday, September 25 8:30 - 9:30 a.m. Parent Weekend Registration LYCC 9:30 a.m. Annual Parents' Association Meeting Dover Theatre 10:45 a.m. Social Hour with Faculty DCC Banquet Hall Noon Picnic Lunch DCC 2:00 p.m. Football Game Stadium 5:00 p.m Dinner On your own 8:00 p.m. An Evening of Jazz Dover Theatre 9:00 p.m. Observatory Open Sunday, September 26 10:30 a.m. Student-led Worship Service Dover Chapel Inside BSU Calendar A Look Back ■ page 2 Faculty Q & A ■ page 3 Ed Clark Profile page 3 Sports ■■■■■■ page 3 Have a nice day! page 4
